Tips for your Travels

The last few months have involved a lot of traveling for me, so I wanted to give you all some tips that can make it or break it for me when it comes to packing, planning, road trips, and airports.

When it comes to planning, once you know where you’re going make sure you pick the right dates to travel! If your travel dates are flexible, check what’s going on in the city you’re headed to so you don’t miss out on a show or festival you’ve always wanted to see. Also, if your dates are flexible this will be key in planning flights. A lot of the time if you select the “flexible dates” box on the airline website it will show you prices a lot lower on the surrounding dates so that you can pick the best deal.

If you’re driving, look for some places to stop ahead of time for food or if you’re driving for two days pick a spot to stay for the night that has a good hotel. If you’re just driving for one day, planning your meals/stops is great so you don’t end up needing gas and food in a tiny town where everything closed at 4pm and you have no where to go (speaking from experience!!).

Packing, packing, packing- I’ll probably do a separate post about this another time because it’s a pretty big topic, but the biggest tips I can give you are:

  1. Get a good tote bag.
  2. If you’re flying, get a bag with 4 wheels.
  3. Chill out on the cosmetics you’re bringing.

Okay so for number 1, when you’re going on a trip having a good tote bag is necessary. I’m usually a smaller handbag gal, but when I’m traveling I know I’ll be carrying more/different things with me that usual. You’ll probably have a couple snacks with you, a water bottle, and more. My favorite tote changed my life when it comes to traveling and you can get it HERE!! I can’t even say enough how much I love this bag! It’s amazing- trust me.

For number 2, a bag with wheels is great for airport travel. It’s lighter to pull because it’s not just dead weight behind you and instead it’s going along side you while you walk. Also, I always put my tote on top of it so again it’s easier to carry everything. I also highly recommend a bag with a hard shell because they last longer and can handle more getting tossed around by the airline if you’re checking the bag rather than carrying on.

And last thing about packing, chill outtttt with your cosmetics. Seriously, think of the stuff in your makeup bag. Now how often do you use that third concealer at the bottom or the second eye shadow pallet? On top of that, you’re going on VACATION! You’re not getting ready for work or something, you’re going to be relaxing. So before you just throw all your cosmetics into your suitcase, pull out your makeup bag and thing of the things you’ll ACTUALLY use while you’re gone and just take those things.

I hope for your next trip these tips will be helpful! Traveling should be fun, not stressful so plan ahead, take what you need, and enjoy being free and on vacay!
